Gangtok Gamusa

Editorial Board Members of the Open Journal of Psychiatry & Allied Sciences (OJPAS®), Maheshwar Nath Tripathi and Samrat Singh Bhandari met in Gangtok and planned ways to go ahead in the journey of the journal along with introspection of the path traversed so far. Symbolically, Assistant Editor, Samrat also welcomed fellow Editorial Board Member, Maheshwar with a gamusa, the article of great significance for the people of Assam, the place from where OJPAS® originated.

Elsevier Reviewer RECOGNITION

The Editor-in-Chief of the Open Journal of Psychiatry & Allied Sciences (OJPAS®), Shyamanta Das has been awarded the recognition of ‘Outstanding reviewer’ and ‘Recognized reviewer’ for the years 2017 and 2016 respectively by the Editors of ASIAN JOURNAL OF PSYCHIATRY, Elsevier, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Attitude towards intellectual disability

Shyamanta Das, the Editor-in-Chief of the Open Journal of Psychiatry & Allied Sciences (OJPAS®) presented the keynote address, “Attitudes towards intellectual disability” at Sudmersen Hall, Cotton University and was the Chief Resource Person in an awareness and sensitisation programme organised by the Cotton University Students’ Union, Morom – a group of socially concerned Cottonians, and the Department of Anthropology, Cotton University that was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Cotton University.

Shyamanta Das, the Editor-in-Chief of the Open Journal of Psychiatry & Allied Sciences (OJPAS®) wrote on ‘stress at workplace’.

The article, titled “Karmasthanat manoxik chap” began with mention about the journal’s editorial board member Professor Russell Franco D’Souza, MD and his International Institute of Organisational Psychological Medicine. The article also discusses the original work “A study to assess burnout among nurses of maternity department in Gauhati Medical College Hospital, Assam” by Marami Baishya and Bivarani Goswami that was published in the January-June 2016, Volume 7 Issue 1 of the journal.

Clinical research

With the patronage of Professor Hemendra Ram Phookun, HOD and the initiative of the Open Journal of Psychiatry & Allied Sciences (OJPAS®), Dr Niyati Prasad conducted a workshop on “Clinical research” in the Seminar Room of the Department of Psychiatry, Gauhati Medical College Hospital, Guwahati, Assam, India.

Dr Niyati is the Medical Director of Vertex from Paddington, London and in the workshop she covered study design, randomised controlled trial, sample size, and drug development in different phases. Dr Jyotismita Choudhury convened the workshop and the event was made lively by the participation of the following:
